Negotiation of LNG Contracts

The Energy Contract Company specialises in the negotiation of commercial contracts on behalf of its clients. With considerable experience in this area, this service covers all the contracts surrounding the purchase, sale, regasification and liquefaction of LNG. The Energy Contract Company leads the commercial negotiation of projects in the LNG Industry (LNG Sales, LNG Throughput Agreements, LNG Regas Terminal Agreements, etc.), with world-class expertise in taking these projects into financial close.

Recent LNG Assignments

ECC has recently been involved in several major LNG transactions, including:

  • Advisor to DEPA, the gas company of Greece, on optimising the Revithoussa LNG terminal and its acquisition of cargoes
  • Lead role in negotiation of the suite of commercial, throughput and operating agreements for Petronas’ interest in the Dragon LNG terminal and their sale of LNG to Centrica
  • Negotiated Sonatrach’s terminal sharing agreement with BP for the Isle of Grain as well as supporting the client’s entry into the UK gas market
  • Assisted BG Group at a very senior level with the sale of Tangguh LNG (Indonesia) to China, Long-term commercial advice on LNG Import to India, assessment of an LNG project in Iran and the assessment of sale of gas from the Brindisi LNG terminal
  • Advised the planned Lion LNG in Rotterdam on aspects of its commercial arrangements
  • Advised a mid-sized European Utility on terminal sharing arrangements, throughput agreements and LNG supply arrangements for a proposed LNG import terminal in the Mediterranean
  • Assisted in the re-negotiation of LNG supply contracts into Europe and the US
  • Advised a major European Utility on throughput agreements and pricing for an LNG supply
  • Advised a European Utility on the engagement and contracting of LNG supplies for its proposed LNG import terminal
