John Tan

John Tan, Executive Director of ECC is an experienced commercial consultant based in Aberdeen.  John is able to combine commercial expertise with financial and technical knowledge to generate superior outcomes.  His experience covers LNG, gas sales, gas market assessments, FPSO developments, tie-back services to host facilities, major pipeline and receiving terminals and dispute resolution.

LNG and Gas Sales

John has a well-developed understanding of the upstream, midstream, market and finance drivers and their linkages in complex value chain gas monetisation projects.  He is able to use this knowledge to organise work streams and place risk to launch world class gas developments that are project financed.

FPSO development and vessel charters

John leads multi-billion dollar FPSO procurement programmes.  He brings commercial, contractual and technical knowledge of FPSOs and field economics together in an integrated manner to tender, negotiate, evaluate and select the contractor for leased or owned units.

Transportation, Processing and Operating Services

John graduated from Imperial College in 1990 in Mechanical Engineering and was awarded the Bramwell Medal for coming first in the graduating class and the IMechE prize for best project.  He was recruited into Shell International with roles in process engineering, business case evaluation and as offshore commissioning team leader.  In 1996, he completed an MBA from Warwick University and joined Coopers and Lybrand as a management consultant specialising in project managing the set-up of joint venture companies including a 9 month secondment to a Goldman Sachs JV.  John then worked with BP in gas and LNG development in the Middle East and Asia, and in the Forties Pipeline System in the North Sea.
